Spiritual Blacksmiths
The Art Of Shaping Spiritual Environments
Pastor Steve Lummer

“There were no blacksmiths in the land of Israel in those days. The Philistines wouldn’t allow them for fear they would make swords and spears for the Hebrews…none of the people of Israel had a sword or spear, except for Saul and Jonathan” (1Sa 13:19-22 NLT).

CULTURE – WE CRAFT IT, FRAME IT DESIGN IT ..WE DEFINE IT ….WE LIVE WITH IT!

ETHOS
ETHOS (n.) The fundamental character or spirit of a culture; the underlying sentiment that informs the beliefs, customs, and practices of a group or society.

CULTURAL ARCHITECTS

1. HE CREATED YOU TO CREATE.
Hebrews 1:3 By his Son, God created the world in the beginning (the message)

2. HE HOLDS YOU SO YOU CAN HOLD IT TOGETHER.
Hebrews 1:3 He holds everything together
Matthew 14:30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

He holds you UP . He holds you BACK .He holds you TOGETHER .

when you are stressed out, when you are burned out, when you are wiped out.

3. HE COMPLETES YOU TO COMPLETE THE PICTURE.
Hebrews 1:3 He holds everything together by what he says—powerful words! (the message)
Philippians 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (niv)

Don’t Frighten Timothy – Part 2

boy-1

Part two of Don’t Frighten Timothy outline.

DON’T FRIGHTEN TIMOTHY – Pt. 2
Pastor Steve

What happened to your DREAM?

When Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am. 11 No one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he may return to me. I am expecting him along with the brothers. – 1 Corinthians 16:10

The RARITY of Timothy – “if Timothy comes.”

The NEED of Timothy – “see to it”.

The TIMIDITY of Timothy – “see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you.”

The VALUE of Timothy – “for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am.”

The RESISTANCE and COMPLACENCY Timothy receives – “No one, then, should treat him with contempt”.

How should you handle your Timothy?

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. 14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. – 1 Timothy 4:12

How to see your Timothy flourish.

1. In Speech
2. In Life
3. In Love
4. In Faith
5. In Purity

The opportunity of a lifetime must be seized during the lifetime of the opportunity.
2 Timothy 4:14 – Do not neglect your gift”

boy-1

Here is the outline for part one of the message called Don’t Frighten Timothy.

DON’T FRIGHTEN TIMOTHY

Part 1
Pastor Steve

And if Timothy comes to you, see that he may be with you without fear; – 1 Corinthians 16:2

What could have been …… If only.

How we frighten Timothy.

1. FEAR.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

2. A FEELING OF INADEQUACY .
1 Timothy 4:12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

3. A LACK OF PERSISTENCE.
1 Timothy 6:12 – “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

4. CAVING FROM CRITICISM.
2 Timothy 5:12-19 – and not give critics any foothold for finding fault.

5. LIMITING GOD.
2 Timothy 2:9 – “The Word of God is not chained.”
Psalm 78:41 “They…limited the Holy One of Israel”

Timothy makes it

2 Timothy 3 – 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
