Red – Living A Faith That Bleeds

Living a Faith That Bleeds part 1
Pastor Steve Lummer

“A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ …..Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.” Luke 10:30 – 37

Why do we WALK PAST people who are in need?

NO HEART – No compassion
NO REWARD – No recognition
NO ROOM – No margin in our life for ministry

BE THE ANSWER TO SOMEONE’S PRAYER

Luke 10:33- “But a Samaritan” ….

HE SAW HIM
Vs. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.

HE WENT TO HIM
Vs.34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine

HE LIFTED HIM.
Vs. 35 Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him

HE LONG TERM LOVED HIM.
Vs. 35  The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

Being God’s Valentine by loving what He loves.

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Col. 3:10

“whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’  Matthew 25:40

When you look at people try to see Jesus in them – When you look at yourself try to see Jesus in the mirror.

Live a life of faith that bleeds Jesus.

Just had to get of pic of one of Arizona’s exclusive spa and resorts….kinda pricey though.

Winter Olympics Vancover BC

Since I can remember, I have been a fan of the winter Olympics.

I actually remember seeing them on our little black and white t.v in our living room in Davenport Iowa as a little kid.

Today the 2010 Olympics kick off and I’m locked in as much as possible.

My favorites are the Bobsled racing, skiing, and ski jumping.

Wish Brenda and I could be in Vancouver this week.

CRANKING FOR THE KEYS

On Saturday April 24th we are going to do a little fund raising for a pastor and his wife.

On that Saturday morning approximately 800 mountain bikers will head for the hills for one reason or another here in Prescott Arizona.
That morning, I will be riding to raise funds to help Brian and Debbie Fulthrop get back into their home.
Brian and Debbie pastor a small congregation in the Village of Grand Canyon here in Arizona.
They have been living in temporary housing for almost a year now and would love to get back into a home.

We have not put all the details together yet but I thought I would post this info. on my blog to see if there is any interest from other mountain bikers or sponsors regarding this need.
Below is a link to the Whiskey Off Road Mountain Bike Endurance Race, a link to Brian’s blog as well as our little flyer  for this event..

If you would like to sponsor our efforts please contact me through this blog.

We are taking donations on a per mile basis.

For example $1.00 per mile multiplied by a total of 25 miles would be a $25.00 donation.

If for some insane reason you would like to join Team “CRANKING FOR THE KEYS” also you may contact me on this blog.

I am looking forward to a great ride that day.

Baking on a Stone

The other day Brenda and I went treasure hunting at the goodwill here in Prescott.
She walked out with a smile saying that she hit the jackpot by finding a pampered chef pizza stone for three bucks.
We couldn’t wait to get the ingredients and try it out.
Baking on stoneware is one of the oldest methods around and yet is still virtually unknown. Stoneware has been used in bakeries and pizzerias for years and now we brought the art into our home. There are many advantages to stones.

Baking stones and bricks produce an even amount of heat throughout the stone so you won’t burn the edges while leaving the middle raw. They wick moisture away from the surface as well, always leaving your pizzas, cookies and bread a perfect golden brown. The stones retain the heat, keeping your food warm longer than your normal metal pans.
I have got to say that this was the best home made pizza Brenda has made in 30 years of amazing marriage.
We are sold on stone.. maybe someday we will go for the brick oven.

Steve is happy 🙂

Red: Living a Faith That Bleeds

It is said that the color red evokes passion and intensity, and is often associated with strong feelings such as love and desire. The words of Christ, the RED words of the Bible, are full of passion, intensity, and love. In this series, we will explore some of the RED words of the Bible, and study some of the fundamental life changing truths Jesus taught about.

When we start living in the RED we will start asking; “Why aren’t we doing more to be Christ hands and feet? ”

Our newest series @ PFA Prescott

Over the next month we are going to look at the RED words of Jesus in the Gospels and start living a faith that bleeds.

Luke 10 – Walking The Talk

Matthew 9 – Inviting Outsiders not Coddling Insiders.

Matthew 11 – Living Free and Light.

Matthew 16 – How To Live A Faith that Bleeds.

Can’t wait to watch this series not only begin but watch it change us into a greater compassionate church family.

GRACE SPACE

Whenever I get in God’s presence in the worship center, something happens that is like nothing else. I feel an amazing relief from life and its pressures.

No wonder David penned these words in Psalm 69:9 “A zeal for your house consumes me .”

What is zeal? In English, the word means an “eagerness and ardent interest in pursuit of something.”

The sanctuary where we worship is a safe place to experience the grace of God’s presence in a simple non complicated way.

Can’t wait to get to the Grace Space this Sunday.
